京都の自然200選(宇治田原町)
禅定寺の「常緑・落葉広葉樹混交林」

There is a path walking through the forest behind the temple, but unfortunately due to some recent typhoon damage, the path is very difficult to walk; there are branches and trees toppled all over the place. Strictly speaking it was in my opinion hikeable (on my own), but not with small kids. Fortunately, the K200 sign above is not hidden in the forest, but situated near the entry to the forest path, easily accessed by walking up the short steep road to the right of the temple passing by the cemetery.

Walking along this river is very pleasant. We covered a few kilometers, but unfortunately were not able to find any K200 signpost. Also, it was a bit too early in the season for fireflies, but the sakura blossoms were excellent.

The fossils of Uji-tawara are quite well known, and there numerous places where you can see them around the town, both "in the wild" and on display in public areas. The photo above is along the road leading from the tourist spot 宗円交遊庵やんたん south to 永谷宗円生家. As far as I know, there is no K200 signpost.

A really impressive temple tucked away in a very quiet area. The walk from the "town center" of Ujitawara to this temple was pretty interesting, with numerous obstacles depending on the route chosen (due to construction and such). We were the only visitors on a beautiful day with the sakura flowers in perfect bloom. The K200 signpost was in fantastic shape, and is simple to find.
