Osaka midori no hyaku-sen (91-100)

91. 岡中の楠

Date of photo: 2023/05

A huge tree, right in the middle of a quiet residential area. The M100 stone is simple to find. If I recall correctly, we parked at a nearby convenience store, purchased some snacks, and just walked over.

92. 男神社の社叢

Date of photo: 2023/05

A very nice shrine, which had quite a few visitors when we first visited. Finding the M100 stone was quite easy. There is a large parking lot giving direct access to the shrine.

93. 金熊寺の梅林と信達神社

Date of photo: 2023/07

A lovely area, with a few parking spaces in front of the temple. You might need to explore a little bit to find the M100 stone, but it is very close to the parking lot.

94. 堀河ダム

Date of photo: 2023/05

A great dam for walking around. Excellent sights. There were a lot of other walkers, mostly with dogs, when we visited. Finding the M100 stone is easy.

95. 永福寺のびゃくしん

Date of photo: 2023/02

This one is easy, and the trees are an immediate giveway for the location, just northeast of the local public elementary school. First time ever visiting 忠岡町. We parked at the 池上曽根史跡公園 and walked over, picking up number 82 along the way.

96. 永楽ダムと桜の道

Absolutely beautiful scenery in the spring when the sakura are in bloom. There were people everywhere. A lot of fun to walk around. The M100 stone is easy to find.

97. 金乗寺

A small temple in the middle of a very quiet port town. A big tree is the main draw of this temple; it did not feel very "open," but we went in and explored a bit anyways, and were greeted by a lady in a somewhat terse manner. In any case, the M100 stone is easy, right in front of the temple.

98. 小島・長松の海岸

Date of photo: 2024/08

This was by far the most difficult M100 stone to find. The official title is so general that one has no idea where a "natural" location for the stone should be. Here is how to find it. First, go to 道の駅 とっとパーク小島, a nice spot for fishing and eating seafood. From there, walk north along the side of the nearby road (route 65). Walking for a few minutes, before the road bends inland (east), there is a patch of land off the side of the road on your left, and the M100 stone is down there, close to the seawall, next to a large sign describing the aquatic life in the area.

99. 淡輪・箱作海岸

Date of photo: 2022/10

This one is out in the open in an easily accessible area, but it is easy to miss. Head down to the 大阪府立青少年海洋センター, and head towards the beach area to the east. Upon entering this big beach park and facing east, the M100 stone will appear on your right in short order.

100. 鳥取ダムと紀泉高原自然休養林

The dam is easy to locate on a map, and so in principle finding this M100 stone is not at all difficult. That said, in practice, the road leading to the dam was quite narrow and rough. It truly is out in the middle of nowhere. To our surprise, however, there were a few other groups there, with fishing boats in the nearby pond. Extremely humid with lush insect life, but still a lot of fun. We did some exploring of the hiking trails near the dam, quite pleasant and quiet.
